At the 450th meeting of the Board, the President moved that the report be transmitted to the Colonial Secretary and that at the same time it be urged how necessary it is in the interests of the public health that the construction of public latrines in suitable localities be proceeded with at as early a date as practicable.
In 1897, on the 8th April, a plan showing the proposed position for 12 public latrines on the Taipingshan resumed area was considered, and the Board approved of the sites. Nothing further has been done. The plans are in C.5.0. No.847/97.
On the 22nd April, at the meeting of the Board, the President moved that it is desirable that the Government should provide further latrine accommodation in the City at an early date.
In 1898, on the 18th May, the Director of Public Works moved that the attention of the Government be invited to the representations made by the Sanitary Board in 1896 and following years, and this Board begs that provisions be made in the Estimates for 1897 for at least two public latrines in the City, and that votes be taken annually for this service until...
